The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Wyoming has reiterated its ongoing commitment to fighting human trafficking in observance of National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. The office emphasized its efforts to collaborate with federal, state, and local agencies to protect victims, support survivors, and prevent these crimes.

U.S. Attorney Darin Smith stated, “Whether it’s forced labor, domestic servitude, or sex trafficking, human trafficking is the exploitation of human beings for profit, and it has no place in today’s society. We remain dedicated to investigating and prosecuting traffickers within the borders of Wyoming.”

The Department of Justice continues its work to bring traffickers to justice and safeguard those affected by these offenses. The department noted that while January marks Human Trafficking Prevention Month each year, efforts to address human trafficking persist throughout the year.

The passage of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act in 2000 marked a significant step in national efforts against all forms of human trafficking. Since then, the Department of Justice has played a leading role in these initiatives.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office encourages anyone with information about possible cases or individuals affected by human trafficking to contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888 or text 233733. Additional details on federal anti-trafficking activities are available at www.justice.gov/humantrafficking.
