A Riverton man has been sentenced to 210 months in prison for distributing child pornography, according to an announcement from United States Attorney Darin Smith. Luke Everrett David, 25, received the sentence along with 10 years of supervised release. U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl handed down the sentence on December 4 in Casper.

Court documents indicate that between December 2024 and March 2025, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) received eight CyberTip reports from MediaLab/Kik via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). These reports were linked by common email addresses associated with David. Investigators obtained search warrants for his accounts and devices.

A forensic analysis revealed that David was responsible for at least 175 videos and 69 images of child pornography. The material included the distribution of a new image as well as receipt of images generated using artificial intelligence technology. Restitution for victims will be determined within the next 90 days.

The investigation was conducted by the DCI ICAC Task Force, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Mackenzie R. Morrison prosecuted the case.

“This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.  Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims,” stated officials in the release.
