Jorge Saavedra-Delgado, a 42-year-old Mexican national from Zamora, Michoacán, has been sentenced to 33 months in prison and one year of supervised release for illegally reentering the United States. The sentencing took place on December 16 in Cheyenne, presided over by U.S. District Court Judge Scott W. Skavdahl.
Saavedra-Delgado was initially contacted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on June 28, 2025, while held at the Lincoln County Jail following his arrest on state charges including interference with a peace officer. Records show that he had previously been convicted in April 2011 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming for distributing methamphetamine and for illegal reentry after deportation. He served sentences of five years for the drug offense and two years for illegal reentry.
Following his formal removal from the United States in March 2015, ICE agents determined that Saavedra-Delgado had not obtained permission to return to the country before being found again in Wyoming. The investigation was led by ICE, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Cameron J. Cook prosecuted the case under Case No. 25-CR-00106.
U.S. Attorney Darin Smith stated: “We fully support ICE’s efforts to identify, locate, prosecute, and remove convicted felons who are in the United States illegally.”
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, an initiative organized by the Department of Justice aimed at combating illegal immigration and targeting criminal organizations involved in violent crime across communities nationwide.
